Hey, a(nother) great episode with lots of twists and turns!  Maybe they should have titled this one "Screwed" since that describes what happens to just about everyone - in the misfortune sense and fornicating sense. 

Such unhappy weddings! I thought Jocasta an insufferable snob but I did feel bad for her, losing her family and all. Though she is lucky to have married Posca.   He will take care of her. Let's hope she doesn't revert back to being shallow and snotty once she's done grieving, he deserves a good wife.

And of course:

As Anthony said, "Now that's an exit."   I totally didn't see that coming, though it makes sense - and for better drama than she being in exile somewhere, weeping over Brutus' ashes. Brilliant job, Lindsay.  

Pullo, Pullo, Pullo I knew this marriage would end badly. If the teaser for next week is any indication, now we know why he wigs out.  *Must remember have my blanket handy.

all and all it was an interesting 1 hour...

on the jocasta/posca union i felt bad for posca!

some things never change  a momentary lapse of judgement--a moment's pleasure...changes the course of the future--to someones misfortune (usually a loved one) (and i was completely turned off by that entire scene! never thought i'd ever say that of a pullo performance--now i really don't care if ray has or doesn't have a nudity clause lol)

okay i better stop i don't want to give any plot points for those who have yet to see the episode...

Hey, Lotis!  Sorry, if you were around tonight and I missed you.  I finally talked my sister into letting me watch an ep on her new 62", flatscreen, HD t.v.   I finally got to see what is written on that ring! XIII

By the way, Ray looks just as good in HD as he does in every other format.

My thoughts on Death Mask:

Pullo/Eirene scene on the bed - Adorable

Pullo/Gaia scene - It actually didn't bother me at all.  It would have been different if he raped her, but they both seemed to be enjoying themselves.  Personally, I don't think of breaking crockery over heads is a form of foreplay, but, eh, to each his own.  It kind of reminded me of season 1 Pullo.  The only part that bothered me was the fact that I believe Gaia is just using him and, judging by her pharmacy visit, plans on killing Eirene and the baby.  I've never been a big Eirene fan, but she doesn't deserve that.

Timon's storyline - WTF is the point of it?

Servillia - To paraphrase Antony, that was an exit.

Antony/Octavia - Knew it was gonna happen, but felt bad about Agrippa.

Vorena the E - This is not going to end well.  Wonder what Vorenus will do when he finds out.

Antony/Octavian - I'm wondering when the split will happen.  If there are only 3 more eps, they're going to have to jump a few years in the next episodes.

I wonder who it is that TP pegs with that axe while wearing that hard-core armor outfit. But I don't wonder enough to look at any spoilers.

I heard about what happened in Sunday's episode from other people before I saw it, because I missed the first airing. I saw the re-airing at 1:00 AM Monday.

Pullo/Gaia-  I was bothered by the scene, I just thought it was silly and slighty overacted.

James Purefoy is doing an excellent job this year.  I hope he gets recognized when award scene begins, but I think The Sopranos will overwhelm the Golden Globes and Emmys.

I can tell I really missed out on A LOT this Sunday. I really hope the guy who puts the eps on the net get it done quickly.

I knew that Gaia woman was up to no good the minute she entered the show

don't get me wrong...i enjoy sex and appreciate sexual interplay as much as the next horny toad i'm just disappointed that the writer took that (easy) route, that's all. (it's unnecessary and takes away from the quality of the show and characters). that's just one person's opinion....

Well...some have expressed a theory that HBO has a "quota" for a minimal amount of sex, nudity and profanity (and to a lesser extent, violence.....Hey...you know a lot of people in the U.S.A. don't seem to have too much of a problem with young people seeing violence in the media, as opposed to the 'bad' words and 'naughty' bits.) in their shows. So maybe the writers are encouraged to include a certain number of sex scenes and breasts, rear ends, etc. sprinkled throughout their adult series and films. (I think, though, as have others whose opinions I've read, that Rome has really toned it down this season compared to last season.)

The theory puts forth the notion that because people pay a premium in addition to their regular cable or satellite TV service to be able to watch HBO, they want to be able to see & hear things that they can't see & hear on broadcast TV or basic cable. And a lot of people enjoy partaking of 'spicier' adult fare and will pay to get it in the privacy of their homes.

Remember HBO's main slogan: "It's not TV. It's HBO."

Just my two cents about the Pullo/Gaia thing: I think we see Pullo trying to steer clear of her in more than one episode, including the most recent one. Remember that he had a wild past in which he was 'enjoying' a variety of women of conquered territories & prostitutes, and Eirene has told him she & Pullo cannot have sex until after she delivers her baby, and Roman society really had no problem with a man having sex with his slaves, or with a married man having sex with a prostitute. And Gaia is REALLY putting the moves on him.
