Just read 'The Punisher: In the beginning' and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thought it witty and couldn't put it down until I'd finished.
'The Punisher: Born', deals with the younger Frank Castle as a Vietnam Vet and gives us insight as to why Frank Castle later becomes the man known as The Punisher.
'The Punisher: Welcome Back Frank', I've yet to read.....but I'll let my views be known when I have !

The first two, to my mind, are good reads. Whether you, like I, have never picked up or read any Marvel literature in the past. Its compelling stuff!  :2drink:

I agree Toduo...compelling!

If you read Up is down and black is white....and Man of stone, you can see Frank Castle getting some TLC (Frank Cstle style). Recommended! Sad ending though.

I have now completed reading all of the comic books. And I must say that in the end it got a bit tedious ...  I found them too similar.
Nevertheless, I still like Frank Castle and I'm looking forward to see Ray in the film  :yahoo: :punisher: :guns3:

Graphic novels are being taught as a subject in my library science alma mater, and this website was posted as a good source.  I checked it out, and The Punisher comics are included.

Why do you say it got tedious and similar?  You're talking about Punisher MAX?

After Y2K, the end of the world had become a cliché. But who was I to talk, a brooding underdog avenger alone against an empire of evil out to right a grave injustice. Everything was subjective. There were only personal apocalypses. Nothing is a cliché when it's happening to you.

I read four of the Punisher books and out of those my two favs were 'Born' and 'In the Beginning'. Am pleased that Ray's film is loosy based on the latter.

Long, Cold Dark, the arc that just finished up, was probably the best of all the Punisher MAX stories in my opinion.  Because it is at the point that all of Frank Castle's emotional armour is ripped away and you can see him for the human being he really is.

It's bloody amazing.

The trade comes in April or you can pick up the individual issues.  It's Punisher MAX 50-54
