Idiots in not even considering Ray. As dumb as they appear to be I bet Alan Cummings will be the next Bond.

Maybe they didn't consider Ray because he is so tall and brawny they would never be able to find a good villian to pair up with him. Remember the guy in the one of the Roger Moore movies who was very tall with metal teeth. They could always go the other way and hire the actor who played Mini Me.

Thanks Wing, it sounds like interesting subject matter, And Purefoy is good value in whatever he does. Isn't Judy Davies an Austrailian actress? I haven't seen her in anything for a long time.

Judy Davis is an excellent actress. I first saw her in My Brillian Career with Sam Neill.

I wonder if James will be a good guy or a bad guy in this?

Re: James Purefoy is Solomon Kane
« Reply #26 on: January 09, 2008, 08:23:05 AM »

There was an article in Variety yesterday that reported, "Max Von Sydow and Pete Postlethwaite are joining star James Purefoy in the cast of 'Solomon Kane.'

Relative neophytes Rachel Hurd-Wood ('Perfume: the Story of a Murderer'), Alice Krige ('Silent Hill') and Mackenzie Crook (the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' films) have also been cast, according to Paris-based producer-distributor Samuel Hadida, head of Davis Films.

Planned as the first in a trilogy, "Solomon Kane" is an epic tale of a 16th century soldier tormented by his past evil deeds, seeking redemption by battling a sinister power threatening the kingdom.

Pic is adapted from the pulp novels of Robert E. Howard, author of 'Conan the Barbarian,' first serialized in the 1920s and '30s.

Helmer Michael J. Bassett ('Deathwatch') will direct from his own script for co-producers Hadida ('Domino') and Paul Berrow, head of Epic Tales.

Shooting is due to begin in Prague this month."

Bassett, has his own website and talks about Kane in a short video posted on youtube.

Indeed, Lotis.  Thanks a million.  James Purefoy was the first actor to win my heart on Rome, but I grew to love Ray's interpretation of a very complex character which he created for Pullo.

I'll still make sure I catch James' movie also, though.  :snog:
