You don't have long to wait, Labia.  The UK theatrical release is 06 February.  Unless Sony has changed its mind?

They are also advertising the dvd's at amazon.com.  What I don't get is that they call it Punisher 2: War Zone.  I don't think that is correct.  Still, if you preorder, you can get cheaper pricing.  I may do that or just go to Target or Walmart on that day and buy it.

Hooray!  I can't wait to see the DVD (although for Ray's sake I wish it was in theaters longer!)

Waging his one-man war on the world of organized crime, ruthless vigilante-hero Frank Castle (Ray Stevenson, HBO’s “Rome”) sets his sights on overeager mob boss, Billy Russoti (Dominic West, HBO’s “The Wire”). After Russoti is left horribly disfigured by Castle, he sets out to seek vengeance under his new alias: Jigsaw. With the “Punisher Task Force” hot on his trail and the FBI unable to take Jigsaw in, Frank must stand up to the formidable army that Jigsaw has recruited before more of his evil deeds go unpunished.

Thanks for all the updates, Nomad.  I think I rather rent it first though.  Will have to put it in my Netflix queue at the top, of course (which will annoy hubby to no end  *snork*)

Been Googling again.  PWZ is opening in theaters in the UK this week and there are several ads and reviews on various UK sites.. will not list them,  but a brief recap of all the ones I could find:

None of the reviews said a bad word about Ray (unfortunately Dominic West and Doug Hutchinson were not spared, and neither was Lexi Alexander's directing), two reviews noted his performance was good.  At least two other reviews echoed my own reaction to the movie calling it "harsh but funny" and a "guilty laugh".

Here's hoping it does well.

An interview with Ray regarding tomorrow's release of PWZ on DVD and Blu-Ray: MovieWeb.com

Of COURSE I am planning on getting my hot little hands on this (and even buying this) tomorrow! I went out and saw the movie on opening day!

Errrrr..... I will endeavor to ascertain whether or not a Blu-Ray disc can be played properly in my regular old DVD player, before I plunk down any money....in case I buy a Blu-Ray player in future. Someone recently told me that I could not...although I had heard I could, before....

Great interview and nice reviews. I hope to see lots of Ray in the extras...and I would like to see anything Ray would rather we didn't see. ;)

You can't play a Blue-Ray on a DVD player, but you can play DVDs on a Blue-Ray player. Blue-Ray players are available, I would say they start approx. $200. and go up from there.

Have the disc with special features.  One of them includes "the training of the punisher" and it has Ray working out.  Ray running around in a sleeveless vest with guns.  :drool2:  Ray working out in shorts and t-shirt.  :grinny: :drool2:  How I felt after seeing that?    :censored:

:lotis:

ack. I probably got confused. I probably initially heard that DVD's could be played on a Blu-Ray player...and got that mixed-up.

At any rate, I got the DVD, and not the Blu-Ray, today. I will watch it later. :sleepy:

An interview with Ray regarding tomorrow's release of PWZ on DVD and Blu-Ray: MovieWeb.com

It's great to see that Ray is still promoting the film, and that he (and Lexi) haven't just written it off because of the box office.  I suspect this film is going to do very well on dvd and blu-ray.

If anyone hasn't bought it yet- what are you waiting for?  The disc is awesome!    :D

Quote
Personally, I am hoping that this proves to be a big hit on DVD, just because I want to see another installment. Really bad.

Ray Stevenson: You and me both. I would love for this to expand and work. I would love for them to come back and say, "Okay, the box office wasn't so good. Maybe because it was too close to the other one. But on DVD, the die-hard fans and the movie fans have proven this to be something quite special. It has opened up a whole new audience. And there is room to bring Frank back. Let's put him through some mayhem again." I would be thrilled at that prospect. I would love to do it again.
