Lee Boardman in UK series

Lee Boardman (Timon) plays gay model agent Murray Priestman in Drop Dead Gorgeous (BBC3, Sunday, 10pm). According to Lee, we're going to be seeing a lot more of Timon in Season 2:

He's been the bad boy of Weatherfield and a tough guy in ancient Rome. Now Lee Boardman is relishing his role as a Manchester acid queen. ... "Murray is very camp and bitchy, but so funny. It's pretty different from what I've done in the past. But that's what makes it so exciting." ...

Still remembered as Coronation Street drug dealing thug Jez Quigley, Knutsford-based Lee is currently mostly resident in Italy filming a second series of international epic Rome, screened here by BBC2. He plays former horse trader Timon in the £63m series which chronicles the rise of the ancient Roman Empire. Made in Rome on the largest standing set in the world, it features several British stars, including Cheshire-born Polly Walker as Atia, the amoral niece of Caesar.

"I was only in half the episodes last year. But I've got big storylines this year and I'm in all of them," explains Lee, who has a long-term commitment to the project, if it continues and if his mercenary character survives.

It's a decent little series actually, and to be honest Lee Boardman's pretty darn good in the role.

"And now for something completely different" - Not posting about a new role this time. ;D

Lee will be running in the 26th annual Great North Run, which will be covered by BBC1 this Sunday, coverage starts at 9:30am. It's the world’s biggest half marathon, from Newcastle to South Shields (21 kilometres, or 13 miles), and attracts some 50,000 runners, including elite athletes, those running for charity and a large number of celebs. Lee's wife, Jennifer James (also an actor, she's in the series Dalziel and Pascoe), will run too.

Wow -- that's impressive that he was able to train for that and film Rome as well (because I don't think he gets all the soldier training like Vorenus, Pullo, and Antony get)!!!

Go Lee and Jennifer!!

Soap stars help the drive for Emma
Wigan Today - May 09, 2007

Thank you – that is the message from the organisers of a charity car wash which has raised hundreds of pounds for toddler Emma Louise Clittie.

Staff at Elite Drive Assist, led by Dawn McGuire, held the two-day event in Ince after reading of Emma's plight in the Wigan Evening Post. The two-year-old is fighting an extremely rare form of cancer and her family are aiming to raise £200,000 for potentially life-saving treatment in America.

Former Coronation Street stars Jennifer James and Lee Boardman helped out on the day and Dawn says she was touched by the support. She said: "Once again, thankyou for your support. It's really amazing how many people have shown an interest in Emma's appeal."

Those who made donations over the weekend include Johnson Tapes & Packaging, Rijo 42, Apollo Print, J & L Supplies, Balloon World, Dragon Hydraulics, Response TH Motors, The Beeches, Fairhurst Accountants, Tesco. Latics and the Warriors, Haydock Racecourse, GGB Motors, Jay-Tech and Threshers.
