I keep getting alerts on these reviews, otherwise I would put them all up at once. Here's one that calls Ray's "a standout peformance" and gives a pretty favorable opinion on the movie. This one is from IGN:

http://movies.ign.com/articles/115/1154961p1.html

Another good review from Epoch Times saying:

"A solidly entertaining meat-and-potatoes gangster film, “Kill the Irishman” is definitely worth seeing when it opens today (March 11) in New York at the Landmark Sunshine.

More good stuff from the Peacock station here in LA:

Lots of articles out there about this movie opening tomorrow...me likey the publicity it is getting.

I'm really, really chuffed that this film and Rays performance is a) being noticed and b) getting positive reviews.  :bday:
Anyone know if it'll be shown here in Blighty? Or does that depend on it's performance in the U.S?

>>>Irish-born actor, a striking muscled figure playing his first lead role of note (sorry kids, Punisher: War Zone doesn’t count), exudes the sort of dominant screen presence, with just the ideal hint of vulnerability, from which past legends have been born.<<<

I thought this was a well-written, thoughtful, useful review. And that quote above was my favorite part.  I suppose the reviewer didn't consider HBO (only theatrical films, I guess) when he wrote that, though. I think the role of Titus Pullo in 'Rome' was a co-lead role.  :rockon2: :worshippy: :crush:

Huffington Post checks in on Kill The Irishman with good words about Ray's performance...but we already knew he would be good didn't we...  :crush:

Still, Stevenson is such a free-swinging force of nature that he pulls you into Greene's story, making it an enjoyably involving tall tale that has the advantage of being improbably true

"...But "Kill the Irishman's" most surprising asset is the out-of-nowhere performance of Ray Stevenson, a big, shaggy, brawling hunk of man-flesh who plays Danny as an elemental force of nature, sometimes crude and violent, sometimes kittenish and mild..."

It is "out-of-nowhere" to those not familiar with Ray's talent; but we fans know just what Ray is capable of in his portrayals. It is so great to hear more people, particularly critics, to become aware of Ray and his talent.

Danny is played by Ray Stevenson ("Rome"), hardly a household name, and "Kill the Irishman" may not turn him into one. Yet within the film industry, people will be taking note of Stevenson's confidence and presence and the fact that he seems to have enough testosterone to power a city block. In a film in which everything is designed to portray its protagonist as someone extraordinary, you need an actor on a grand scale. Stevenson shows he's exactly that, physically and spiritually.
