Wow. Ray could be the new Godfather of Soul. (I know that was James Brown's nickname, but who really knew Marvin Gaye's nickname [Prince of Soul or Prince of Motown]?

I would really love to hear Ray singing Mustang Sally, which James Purefoy reported (on the Rome DVD) reported that Ray sang at the Rome wrap party.  Is there no footage of that?  :anyone: I know Wilson Pickett's nickname was Wicked Pickett. Maybe Ray could be Wicked Picket Fences.  :P  :hide:

:bead:

Oh, hell! Why would I get Picket Fences and Babylon Fields mixed up? ! ? !

Ray was in Babylon Fields, of course.

Never mind.

*Snork* Adorable is one word for it.

As with Camamar, I too recognised some classic Marvin Gaye. It was the abbatoir version methinks... twas being slaughtered

Alas mealsothinks Jose Carreras ain't got too much to worry about (I saw his Christmas Concert at the Royal Albert Hall quite a few years ago... fantastic); nor Jilted John come to think of it *snork*

(Just in case you have no idea who he is)

However, tis not all baaad. I can't fail to admire Ray's ten out of ten performance on what I call my 'Emotional song rendering' scale:

Scale 1 - emotional  2 - heartfelt  3 - intense  4 - emotionally intense  5 - impassioned  6 - effusive  7 - ardent  8 - fervent  9 - fervidly effusive

and Ray's score for putting the feeling in his singing..... *fanfare of trumpets* 10 - Boyz II Men

Wow. Supremely emotional singing at the height of heartfelt intensity
